Hi Marie,

Thank you so much for replying to my posts. I understand what you wrote also about the 1860 census where the enumerator indicated that both Jacob and Patience were born in Nova Scotia.

The page was basically filled down the line with ditto marks after writing in Nova Scotia with a person near the top of the page.... As a result, several families were indicated as though they were all born in Nova Scotia, but they were not... as previous 1850 and later 1870-1900+ census records verify their place of births.

In the case of both Jacob and Patience Bridges, they were both born in Maine. They had two sons, both of whom served in the 20th Maine during the civil war... they also had a daughter Sarah who had a child out of wed-lock who went by the name of Frederick Gilman Bridges.

My ancestry lies with Thomas C Bridges who was born abt 1840 and was son of Jacob and Patience Bridges of Dayton/Hollis (Bar Mills Post office).

I have a few ideas about the ancestry of Jacob and Patience (Goodwin) Bridges,... but nothing real concrete.

Any other help you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Miles
