Hello, John. Thanks for the informative posting. Are you familiar with the Bridges DNA Project through FTDNA? It is available on-line. Eighty men named Bridger/Bridgers/Bridges have provided saliva samples to determine their Y-DNA profile. Two of those men claim descent from Gen Joseph Bridger. I seek to identify and include in that project Bridger/Bridgers men who are descendants of Gen Joseph Bridger's relatives. Gen Bridger had five brothers; his father had five brothers. Gen Bridger's great-grandfather had two brothers. There should be numerous Bridger/Bridgers descendants of those men who Y-DNA profile would be a match to descendants of Gen Bridger.
