Dear Gina,

No-one actually knows the exact date when the Old Brick Church was built... If I remember correctly, the 1632 date is based on a brick on the side of the building that has the 1632 date on it... The brick itself could be from a later renovation, taken from another structure or something like that... In any case, it is fairly unlikely that Col. Bridger actually built the church due to his age... and I don't think Samuel Bridger, Col. Joseph's father, did ever visit America and he died in 1650 in England. It is my belief that Col. Joseph Bridger had something to do with the finishing the church, either by renovating or funding the interior build-out, etc. He was very involved with the church during his life time.

What is your connection to Col. Bridger? You can e-mail to me at timomary@optonline.net
