Col Joseph Bridger, IOW

Hopefully someone can answer a nagging question for me.

My Bridges line, like many of you traces back to Col Joseph Bridger. By all accounts it is accepted that Joseph's father was Samuel Bridger, b. 1584, married Mary Webb.

I have found in researching Isle of Wight a reference to Joseph Bridger as having built the "Old Brick Church" being the father of Col Joseph Bridger, b. 1628.

Is the Joseph Bridger that built the church in 1632, the father of Col Joseph Bridger? Since Samuel was born in 1584 and Col Joseph wasn't born until 1628, is it possible for there to have been this other Joseph in between?

Does anyone have any info or thoughts to share?
