Dorothy, I have not done in-depth research on the family of Henry Drake Bridgers; rather, I have more information on his ancestry. Henry Drake Bridgers, son of Sampson Bridgers and Elizabeth Ann Nicholson, was born in Wilson Co., Tenn. on 10 March 1812. He died in Sept. of 1856, probably in Tallahatchie Co., Miss. He was, as you stated, married on 9 May 1839 in Yalobusha Co., Miss. to Mary Antoinette Murray. Their children were Elizabeth A. Bridgers who married Col. William Henry Fitzgerald; Alice "Allie" E. Bridgers who married John Mitchell Thompson; Mary Williams "Willie" Bridgers who is probably the same M. Willie Bridgers who married Macon Leigh; Joseph Thomas Bridgers; and Coralie "Ral" E. Bridgers who married Dr. David C. Walt.
The Henry Drake Bridgers Family was enumerated in Yalobusha Co., Miss. in 1840 and in Tallahatchie Co., Miss. in 1850.
Much of my information on this Family has come from correspondents, thus I cannot document everything; however, it is my understanding that the parents of Mary Antoinette Murray were Sen. Thomas Walton Murray and Elizabeth Harper who was married second to Stern Simmons, widower of her sister. John Mitchell Thompson's mother was Florida Simmons, step sister AND 1st cousin of Mary A. Murray. Thus, Alice E. Bridgers married her cousin, John Mitchell Thompson. It has been said that Alice died in childbirth.
