Didn't have your new e mail address. I did take a while off but now am off and running.Busy tracking down Sampson Bridger in Georgia(still in Twiggs Co in 1860, which I knew but don't know when he died); and still looking for Bartlett Bridger's wife Mary. Did she die before the 1860 census in Pulaski County, GA?
On the Wayne or Dobbs County GenWeb Site it states that some of those that were pioneers in that county were from the Isle of Wight, which was where the Pitts and Bridger families originated, however there are many Johns and James in this line and it is difficult to place each one of them and where they were in VA and NC during the 1700s.
There seems to be two branches of Bridgers from the Isle of Wight: one going inland across Virginia and then further out west; the other headed south into North Carolina and seemed to be headed in a southwesterly direction toward the Johnston County area, from there some kept going westward and southward into Georgia.
I would give anything to have a time machine and go back and tell them to take care of their censuses better; hide them so the Brits don't burn them.
