Hi,

I'm looking for information on the Bridgeman family from Hogback Mountain, just over the boarder from NC in SC. I think the closest actual town is Tryon, NC.

The farthest I've been able to trace the family back is to John "M.C. / Grandfather" McCollough Bridgeman, born before 1775 (when his son, John, was born). John Bridgeman (1775-1850) married Catherine. John's son was McCullogh C. Bridgeman (about 1816 to 1894. McCollough and his wife, Rebecca Durham (about 1822 - after 1900) were the parents of John W. Bridgeman. John W. Bridgeman (1861-1915), married to Hulda Ann Gosnell (1867-1939), and their family lived on the back of Hogback Mountain until sometime after John's death from the flu in 1918. Hulda and her son, John Charles Bridgeman moved to Gastonia, NC. John and his family lived in Gastonia and Stanley, NC, for the rest of his life. John C died in 1984.

The family seems to have been in the same general area as far back as John McCollough Bridgeman.

I would appreciate any information anyone can share with me. My oral family history only goes as far back as my great grandfather, John C. Bridgeman, and I can use all the help I can get! Thanks!
