Messing up on censuses is quite common."Glensea" could have been "Glen C." but without seeing the actual records, I cannot say.You will find people going by their first name on one census, then by their middle name on another, or if someone else gives the information, it could be a nickname.
I assumed that Zennis Bridge's father, Jesse, was a brother to my ggg-grandfather because they were living together in the 1850 census and were only 10 years apart in age.I believe that Susan Emmons, Jesse's wife, was sister to my ggg-grandmother because Susan's sister, Mary, was living with them in 1850, also.Alanson and Caroline's son, John, married the daughter(named Martha) of Susan's sister, Sarah.
In 1870, John Bridge, age 75, was living with Alanson Bridge (age 50).We believe that this is Alanson and Jesse's father and that their mother is Betsey Chamberlain. This information was from the pension file of John Bridge who lived in Lorain in 1871 and had lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan.John and Betsey were married in Ontario County, New York in 1814.The pension files says it was Wayne County but Wayne County wasn't formed until much later. I have no documentation that Alanson and Jesse were sons of John, however, the 1830 and 1840 censuses showed that John had sons Alanson and Jesse's ages.
Hannah Bridge, daughter of Joshua Bridge, married David Chamberlain Jr. in Ontario County, NY in 1810.One of their sons was helpful to John Bridge in getting his pension.Whether this is because Hannah was John's sister or David was Betsey's brother, or both, I cannot say.I have been unable to confirm or deny descent as Joshua had at least one son John's age in 1810.
Joshua Bridge's lineage is in the Bridge book. Our ggg-grandparents may not have been too anxious to claim descent as Joshua spent time in prison for counterfeiting and his brother, John Townshend Bridge was hung for murder in Indiana.
