My lead to William Bricker was through the answer to a query I posted on the Fulton County, IL Genweb board, when I was grasping at straws in search of my Beam great-grandfather.

William Bricker apparently was a 3-great-grandfather on that side of my family, although I have not verified any of this information yet.

William Bricker, age 39, is listed on the 1860 Census for Canton Twp., Fulton Co., IL, household #602. His occupation is given as a carpenter, and his place of birth was given as PA.

There is a post that is later than yours on this Forum about the name possibly having a different spelling. This may be a lead to check into. I would also think of Hamburg first as the German city, but there are also many places with that same name here in the US, which certainly complicates matters! As soon as I come up with anything else I will post a follow-up message.

Good luck!
