Mike:

Thanks for the info. I'm chasing my wife's Benson line and haven't been able to find out much about Josephine or her father Elijah. I had a couple of Charles and Josephine's kids listed including Harry, but was not aware of Earnest or Mande. While there isn't much info running around on the Benson bunch, a number of years ago I found a book at the Cass County MO library that had some info on Charles Bricker and his family. It said that, as you indicate, his father was a Jeremiah Bricker and wife Susannah. It also listed all the kids (they had 10 per the article), and I have info on all of them. Unfortunately, it didn't say who Jeremiah's father was. I spent one afternoon roaming around a cemetery in Pleasant Hill MO where most of Jeremiah's kids are buried including Charles. Where do you connect in this line? I gather that your ancestor must have been a brother of Charles. The Brickers were a well-respected family in the area and my wife's mother (a Benson) says that when their family hit hard times, "Uncle Charlie" took them in for a number of years. She said he was a fine man and very well respected.

You might want to note that Josephine was born in July of 1872 and not 1877. She was listed on the 1880 census as age 8. She died on January 8, 1945, but I never was able to figure out where she was buried. I found Charles grave in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery and it appears to be a single cemetery plot. Charles remarried a gal named Artie Gardner from what I'm told, but I haven't been able to find anything on her either including her burial site. If you need any info on Jeremiah's kids, let me know and I'll be glad to give you what info I have. Do you live in the Kansas City area?

Sid
