Hi Andrew

I have about 202 Bricks in my family tree, but not your Samuel and Ann though they seem to be popular names for the Brick family.

As far as I can ascertain, all of the Bricks in Upton are/were related and as they were boatmen on the River they spread up and down. Furthest up River I have found is near Bridgnorth. The furthest back I have gone is to a William Brick who would have been born c 1570. I have the baptism of 5 of his children all listing William as their father. My husband is descended from William through William the son and then David, followed by David's son William. The latter William being the only male child of David's to reach adulthood.

I have not followed any other line down (much more difficult than going up)so it might be you are related to one of the other children. However in case you aren't my husband's line is below.
William son of David married Jane Lockley they had 3 boys.
Richard married Ann Hadley 1703 Upton (6 children)
John married Mary George 1735 Croome Hill (8 Children)
William married Sarah Bloxham 1761 Upton (6 children)
Thomas married Elizabeth Pumpfrey 1793 Upton (15 children)
Stephen married Elizabeth Smith 1840 Upton (10 children)
Ann married George Groves 1863.

Of my Samuels. I have a Samuel born 1741 son of John and Mary George. He had a son Samuel born 1765, but I don't have a marriage for him. I have one baptised Nov. 1794 but he doesn't have a daughter Ann. I don't have an Ann born 1830 either.

There is another link to the Bricks with the Kent family although more obscure. Stephen Brick married Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth's parents were Thomas Smith and Ann Kent.

We (Bill's cousin and I) have found that there were 3 families intermarrying in the Brick.Pumfreys that is the Farleys and the Smiths. One or two in each generation seemed to marry people with those surnames.

I thought I was fairly well up on the Bricks, obviously I am not, so would love to know more about your Samuel and Ann.

Regards

Eveline
