Larry:I'm not sure we have a connection, but here is the information I have.
My maternal grandmother was Mary Rose Brickler, born in Dayton, OH in August 1869.Her parents were Stephen Anthony Brickler (1838-1898) and Marguerite Egeter (1833-1908), both born in Alsace Lorraine.Stephen Anthony came from France with his parents, Stephen Brickler (1794-1875) and Anna Greiner (1796-1881), to St. Maurice, Fugit Twp., Decatur Co., IN.Stephen and Anna are buried in the cemetery of the St. Maurice Catholic Church.I am sure Stephen Anthony had siblings but have not been able to verify this.I am almost sure he had a brother named Joseph.Stephen Anthony & Marguerite lived in Dayton, OH from between 1869-1873.They moved back to St.Maurice and sometime after 1879 moved to Cincinnati.Stephen Anthony was a school teacher in St. Maurice and Dayton. In Cincinnati he owned a store on Findlay St.My grandmother, Mary Rose was his oldest child, followed by Frances b. 1870, Caroline b. 1872, Antoine (1874-1910), Joseph b. 1876, Clara b. 1877 and Anna b. 1879.If any of this connects, please let me know.
If you have not already checked the www.FamilyHistory.com message board for the Brickler surname you might check the messages there. There aren't many, but there was one on 9/24 from a Gary Brickler re: his g.g.grandfather, Dominic from Alsace Lorraine and St. Maurice.Dominic's descendants are George, Edward and George Maurice.Good Luck!
