Jo, the idea that Lucy Briant was an Indian princess is speculation. It's pretty certain, though, that she was the grandaughter of a chief. Much of what I know about the Lucy Briant/Bryant comes from Jere Cox who is also a descendant of Lucy. Put his name in the search engine and you'll likely find some more material. He has done extensive research on this line.
