I am researching my husband's family and we have managed to get as far back as James Bryan in what is now Abingdon, VA. He had a son, Landon (or Landrens as it was written in one spot) around 1816. Would any of this match with what you know?

I read what you wrote about James signing with an X. We found an electronic copy of Landon's father's will, signed with an X, and in the Abingdon cemetary, a couple of people have had T's put in the end of the name, even though they were siblings.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Kim Bryan
