While in France just a few years ago, I was given a copy of the Pontbriand family genealogy by relatives from the northern coast of Britanny, in St. Lunaire and Dinard. The genealogy goes back to 1193. I know the region was populated by Celts, likely around 980. The "Brian" root may well link my family with yours. When visiting St. Lunaire, we found the actual site of the origin of the family name. That is, we found the remains of ramparts to the bridge, just behind the still-lived-in family manor. It was that bridge which gives the "Pont" to the name. But the "briand" part, I don't have. The "de", of course, means "of". So, the name would be "O'bridge of Brian", or close to it. Any information? Questions? Can you help? Thank you, and my best to you all---
