Benjamin Brewton/Isabelle Turnbull

I am looking for some information on the background of my family; some of the 'Mississippi Brewtons'. My father, Jack Cleavland Brewton, is one of three children of Randolph Benjamin Brewton and Sara Alma Gray of Sumrall/Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Randolph Benjamin was not inclined to speak of his family. However, his father was supposedly Benjamin Brewton (yikes!! another Benjamin!!!!!), while his mother was named Isabelle Turnbull. Isabelle's mother was a Holland, while her father's name was Frank Turnbull.

I understand that Joseph Brewton, Jr. (of South Alabama) may have had a son named Ben who married Elizabeth Turnbull. This Ben and Elizabeth Turnbull Brewton may have lived in Mobile, AL.

Does anyone have any information on any of these individuals or have suggestions for where I might be able to search. I am a neophyte in geneology endeavors and would appreciate any suggestions. Does the Turnbull family have connections with the community of Turnbull, AL, in Monroe County? Any information on the history of Turnbull, AL? Family lore holds that Isabelle was Choctaw, however that area was formerly Creek land. Any information on the Turnbull families in S. Alabama that might help resolve her identity?

Thanks!

Randy
