I had one of those genealogical "false alarms" while tracing my Brewster line. It too goes through the Rev. Nathaniel. I was mislead into believing that he was the grandson of William, The Elder, Brewster of the Mayflower. But after a little more research, I was "disappointed" to find that he was not related to the Mayflower Brewster. In any case, here is what I have. First of all, just so you know how I tie in to the Brewsters, My Great Grandmother on my mother's side was a Tuttle. Going back through the Tuttles, I ran across a "many great" grandmother who was a Wells, whose mother was Mary Brewster...thus another "many great" grandmother (she had married Joshua Wells). Mary was born in 1695. She was the daughter of Timothy Brewster and Mary Hawkins of Brookhaven, LI, NY. Timothy was the son of The Reverend Nathaniel Brewster and his 2nd wife, Sarah Ludlow. Nathaniel was born 1623 in Bristol, England and died 12/18/1690 in Setauket, Brookhaven Town, LI, NY. Nathaniel was the son of Francis Brewster, b. 1600, Castle Bristol, England. He died apparently at sea in 1646. Francis was married to Lucretia (?) Brewster, who was born 1599, England and died between 1664 and 1669 in New Haven, CT. Now, Francis Brewster was the son of Francis Brewster, b. abt 1556,Wrentham Hall, Somerset, England, d. 10/16/1632, Bristol, Somerset, England, and Elizabeth Snelling, b. 1568, Bristol. Francis (1598) parents were Humphrey Brewster. b. 1526, Rushmere, Somerset, Eng., d. 6/29/1593, Wrentham, Somerset, Eng. and Alice Foster, b. 1530, "Goboke", Somerset, Eng, d. 1611. (Her father was William Foster, b. abt. 1504 and her mother was Marilyn Spencer, b. abt. 1508, a distant aunt of the late Princess Dianah!). Humphrey's father was Robert Brewster, b. 1494, Rushmere. His mother was unknown. Robert's father was William Brewster, b. abt. 1470, Rushmere and his mother was Mary Harvey, b. abt. 1470, Olton, Suffolk, Eng. William's father was Robert Brewster, b. abt. 1440, Rushmere, mother, unknown. Robert's father was Humphrey Brewster, b. abt 1410, Rushmere, and his father was John Brewster, b. 1380, Rushmere. FINALLY, John's father was Galfridus Brewster, b. 1350, Rushmere. That's quite alot to put on this page. I hope the other's don't mind!
