I am trying to research my ancestor Daniel J. Gray but as I have hit a brick wall I am trying to do so in a roundabout way. He migrated from Pendleton SC to Wayne Co. IL in 1810-1820. Also listed in the Wayne county census is a Sheriff Gray. I have uncovered research that a David Gray born @1750 married a Virginia Brewster in SC. This Virginia Brewster was a daughter to John Brewster and Elizabeth Sheriff. Does anyone have access to information on the Brewster/Sheriff connection? Hopefully this may in turn lead me to more information on my Gray family.
