I'm familiar with this branch of the Haines's. My GGGrandmother was Elisabeth Haines, sister of this Charles Sr. I have quite a bit of info on them, but haven't found anyone yet that I can link to Esther or Mazeppa. Charles had 4 children that I know of, Martha b. 1851, George Washington b. 1854, Charles Edgar b. 1857 (Alice's father) and Edward b. 1869(Maybe)- There is a long break between Alice and Edward that I need to check out. I have a lot of miscellaneous notes on them in my files that might have a clue, but it will take a while to sift through them all. I'm also looking for any Whitaker's that may have been in Ulster county at the time. Ettie's father was from Germany and her mother from NYS according to the 1880 census so that may help narrow things down.
