I believe I may have found Mr. Haines. Your Fulton Postcard suggestion led me to a 1948 obituary notice for Alice Jones (Mrs. Charles), who was survived by two half-sisters,Ida Mower, Newburgh, and Mrs. Frederick Egnor, Catskill. The latter was born Esther Elberta Brewer, daughter of Mazeppa and Etta Haines. The obituary says Mrs. Jones was born in Haines Falls in 1876. 1880 census shows an Alice Haines, age 5, living in Hunter as the granddaughter of Charles Haines, head of household, age 49, and, apparently, the daughter of Charles Haines, age 23, also living in the home. (Of course, the senior Charles could have had other sons who might have been the father. There is an Edgar C age 14 shown with Charles in the 1870 census). The George shown in the household in 1870 census may likely be the George listed immediately below Charles Sr. in 1880.
