Elizabeth 'Liz' Forgety Brewer, 85, of Rogersville, Hawkins
Co TN, died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Wellmont-
Holston Valley Hospital following a sudden illness. She
was born August 25, 1925.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Hall Forgety.
She made a home and was devoted to her marriage of nearly
50 years to William 'Dopey' Brewer.
She was also preceded in death by her father, Robert
Forgety; three sisters, Cecile Forgety Lee, Nelle Forgety,
and Mary Forgety Laughters. Margaret Forgety Huffman, of
Clearwater, FL, is the last surviving sister of this family.
Elizabeth was employed at Card and Label for 46 years.
To know Elizabeth, was to love Elizabeth. She had a way of
making people feel comfortable and she enjoyed 'her gift
of gab'. She was very generous with her acts of kindness
to her friends and family. She wanted you to be happy, to
see the world and to do things she didn’t get to do in her
younger life. She was a simple lady with a big heart who
required very little and was content in life. Her total
journey was devoted to her marriage, her dear family and
her deep faith in God and to her Choptack Baptist Church
Family.
Survivors are three special nephews, Raymond Laughters and
wife Jan, of Gray, TN, and Keith and Gerald Laughters, of
Kingsport, TN; sister, Margaret Forgety Huffman, of
Clearwater, FL; a special niece, Linda Huffman Solari and
husband Don, of Clearwater, FL; nieces and nephews, Shelby
Laughters, of Boston, MA, and Jeff Laughters of Gray, TN;
cousin, Mrs. Charles 'Little Dot' Kinder, of Charleston,
WV; two very dear friends, Joyce Gourley who was her
longtime friend and caregiver, and Maye Courtney.
The family would like to express graditude to the staff at
Wellmont-Holston Valley Hospital/ Wilcox Hall Hospice, and
to Mr. Okey Frazier, friend of family. Thank you each for
your comfort caring and prayers.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.,
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Colboch-Price Funeral
Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 7 p.m.,
Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Keith
Osborne and Pastor Tecky Hicks officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday,
September 30, 2010, in Highland Cemetery. Music will be
provided by Faye Helton. Honorary pallbearers are Bufford
Courtney and Johnny Leroy. Pallbearers will be Daryl
Alvis, Carman Howell, Larry Helton, John Lamb, Renn Lawson,
Jr., Jeff Laughters, and Jack Price.
Memorial contributions may be made to Choptack Baptist
Church 5973 Hwy. 66 Rogersville, TN 37857.
