Path of Burwell & 2 other Brewer lines who likely connect
I have been working on Brewer again. I find that Burwell was in Halifax Co., NC. Then Burwell Brewer OF Halifax bought land in Johnston Co., NC which part became Wake.
When Wilkes County, GA was opened to settlers, Burwell Brewer settled there. Wilkes eventually became part of Oglethorpe. That is where he died in 1799. I'm looking for Patriotic service for him for the DAR. He appears to be been in Johnston Co. during the Revolution. I'm from daughter Nancy who married George Brittain and George Brittain is named in Burwell Brewer's will.
I also have - probably eventually connected, but nothing proven - an ancestor named Elvira Brewer. She married young to Wm. R. Carnes. They moved to Nacogdoches County, Texas from Hines Co., MS around 1839/1840. The only reason I can see for their moving there was to be near the family of Henry Brewer who MIGHT be an Uncle or some other kin. A couple of Henry's children married another branch of Brewers also from Hinds Co.,MS. Elvira and Wm. R. married in 1838 in Hinds Co., MS. A William Brewer was a bondsman for her marriage. The only other bit of information for a William Brewer who might be her father was that there was a William Brewer who migrated in the same path as Wm. R's father, Wells Carnes. That includes some records in the 1816 State Census for Monroe Co. AL.
Henry Brewer researchers believe he also goes back to George Brewer from his first wife, Sarah Lanier instead of the second one, Alice who is said to be the mother of Burwell.
