(2)I have since found that when Burwell bought land in Johnston Co.,NC, the deed included "of Halifax Co." I presume that is North Carolina since it was a NC book.
(1)I have him born about 1730 in Surry Co., VA.
I have him in Johnston/Wake Co., NC in 1773
He was in Wilkes Co., GA by 1788
He died in Oglethope Co., GA. in 1799
(3)Burwell - sometimes called Burrell - died in 1799 so I can't use him for 1812. I could use him for Daughters of American Colonists if I can find the right service. An Original Land would do it. Not bought or inherited. In my notes, I have that someone told me that his land in Wilkes County, GA was a Major's portion. It is my understanding that there were no Military service awards in Georgia. Just that they were eligible for the Lottery. I may be mistaken. Burwell owed a large acreage in Wilkes County.
