Important: Joseph Brower (Sr.) is almost certainly descended from Adam Brouwer [Berkhoven] (b. abt. 1620, possibly Cologne, Germany; d. abt. 1692, Brooklyn, NY; m. Magdelena Jacobs Verdon, 21 Mar 1644/45, New Amsterdam, NY) because the Y-DNA 67 test results for the son of the son of Joseph Brower, Jr., matched closely the results of known descendants of Adam Brouwer (Haplogroup E1b1b1a: M35+ M78+ M96+ P2+ M107- M123- M136- M148- M183- M2- M281- M34- M81- V13+). Less importantly, the oral family tradition is that Joseph Brower (Sr.) was of Dutch descent.

Possibly important: William Brower (aka Brewer), age 72, is shown as living with Joseph Brower (aka Brewer), age 22, in the 1850 U.S. Census, Southwark, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But the relationship between Joseph and William is not indicated in the 1850 U.S. Census.

Any help regarding Joseph Brower (Sr.) and his family would be much appreciated. Thank you.
