Hi, Allison,
Just surfing to see if anything new had been posted about my Chatham-La-Ms Brewers.
About Oconee Co., Ga.
About 1800, several of my ancestors left Chatham Co. NC, including George Brewer (son of John?)and wife, Hannah Thompson. They stopped for a while in Oconee Co., Ga., where she was listed as member of the Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Hannah was dismissed from membership in 1809. Geo. Brewer was on the 1812 Tax List in St. Tammany Parish, La. (which became Washington Parish). His son, Balaam, was in the War of 1812 in Goff's company, Louisiana Militia.
George sold his La. property to his son-in-law, James Graham, in 1829, after moving to Hinds Co., Ms. where, I believe, both he and Hannah died.Several of their children migrated to Nacogodoches, Texas.
Children of Geo & Hannah: Ellender; Nancy; John (had son, Benjamin); Balaam; Sabrina; Rebecca; Olivia; Wm; GreenBerry; Jeremiah. Hope this helps.
I'm still trying to verify George's parents, siblings.I keep coming across the names Burrell, Oliver, John, George.
Anything here helpful?
