Mary Lou Sorah Vineyard, 81, Hiltons, VA, died Tuesday,
April 1, 2008, at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport,
Sullivan Co TN.
She was born in Washington Co VA, on December 5, 1926, and
was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Vineyard was a homemaker of
the Baptist faith.
She was prededed in death by her husband of 60 years, John
Henry Vineyard, Sr, (February 28, 2008); mother, Bessie
Sorah Brewer; sister, Virgie Brewer; brothers, Walker
Brewer and Woodrow Brewer; special aunt, Ona Mae Harper.
Surviving are her daughters, Louise Murray, Hiltons, VA,
Mary McMurray and husband, Greg, Hiltons, VA, Shirley
Smith and husband, Albert, Hiltons, VA, Brenda Bishop and
husband, Robby, Gate City, VA, Loretta McMurray and
husband, Rickey, Hiltons, VA; son, John Henry Vineyard,
Jr. and wife, Jane, Hiltons, VA; 10 grandchildren, Roger
Vineyard and wife, Kim, Eddie Vineyard and wife, Cindy,
Lisa Turner and husband, Kenny, Joyce Grubb and husband,
Damon, Maria McMurray Colobro and husband, Anthony,
Matthew McMurray and wife, Stasha, Ronald Smith, Carrie
Bowman and husband, Joel, Cheyenne Thomas, Marshall
McMurray; six great-grandchildren, Jared Vineyard, Amanda
Hale, Samantha Fletcher, Jessalyn Turner, Eden Vineyard,
Caiden Racanelli; sister, Nellie Hall, Abingdon, VA;
brothers, Fred Brewer, Abingdon, VA; Tom Brewer and wife,
Christine, Abingdon, VA; Roy Brewer, Abingdon, VA; several
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours 5 to 8 p.m. April 3, 2008, at Colonial
Funeral Home, Weber City, VA, and other times at the
residence. Funeral services will be conducted in the
funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. with Pastor Larry Browder,
Minister Clarence Huffman, and Roger Vineyard officiating.
Music will be provided by Larry, Don, and Gorman McMurray.
Graveside services will be Friday, April 4, 2008 at 1 p.m.
at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery, East Carters
Valley Road, Gate City, VA.
Pallbearers: Roger Vineyard, Eddie Vineyard, Ronald
Smith, Marshall McMurray, Jared Vineyard, Matthew
McMurray, David Sampson and Randall Sampson.
Honorary pallbearers: Joel Bowman, Damon Grubb, Wilbur
Ketron, James 'Jabo' Graham, Troy Doran, Fred 'Pappy'
Vineyard, Kurt Spivey, Roy Brewer, Tom Brewer, Fred
Brewer, Kenny Turner, Anthony Colobro, and Scott Thomas.
The family will meet at the funeral home at 12 noon, April 4,
2008 to go in procession to the cemetery.
