I am a descendant of the Heathcote family of Derby, England. In 1681, Elizabeth Heathcote, wife of Nathaniel Heathcote, left a will naming the following:John Brewer and heirs, William Brewer and heirs, John Gresham and son John, Samuel Heathcote of Derby, John Heathcote, and her "sister" Martha Wills [could be maiden or married name].In the event of death of Martha, personalty to go to Ruth, Barbary, and Margaret Heathcote. The Heathcote's she refers to are all nieces and nephews of her husband, Nathaniel, who was a judge/commissioner on the Provincial Court of Md in the 1670's.He died sometime around 1680, before Elizabeth did.I don't know who or why the Brewer's and Gresham's are that were named. They could be Elizabeth's relatives.Nathaniel Heathcote was more remotely related to George Heathcote, lawyer in Philadelphia, Caleb Heathcote, Mayor of New York City around 1700 and Gilbert Heathcoate, Mayor of London around the same time.Any information on these Brewer's would be helpful.
