John Brewer, Hannah Eveleth, MA?
Posted by: Donna Crosby (ID *****1813) Date: March 08, 2007 at 10:49:43

Does anyone know anything about a John Brewer who married Hannah Eveleth? Hannah was the daughter of Joseph Eveleth (b. 1726)who married Patience Hunt.

As Joseph Eveleth disappears from Princton and Hubbardston MA about 1790, I believe that I have found him living in Athens/Windahm/VT with his son David (married Deborah Nightingale), and daughter Eunice (who married Stephen Farrington)on the 1790 Windham/VT census.

I descend from another one of Joseph's daughters Ruth Eveleth (b. 1758) who married Ebenezer Rice (b. 1756)and moved to 'probably' Athens/Windham/Vt after 1791, then became a missionary with Joseph Bullen to the Cherokee Indians in MS/TN by 1806.

Am trying to PROVE that Ruth Eveleth (baptismal name) and "wife Henrietta" Rice (Ebenezer Rice, Sr.'s will 1831, Maury/TN) are the SAME woman; perhaps someone out there has a document from one of her siblings telling about Ruth (Henrietta?)Eveleth-Rice after she left Vermont for TN.

I do know that the descendants of Stephen Farrington and Eunice Eveleth eventaully migrated to IL where all of the descendants of Ebenezer Rice, Sr. (by both.. ? were there three?) wives Sarah Taintor and Ruth)settled between 1820 and 1836. Need to find PROOF that Ruth Eveleth and Henrietta Rice are the same woman.

I descend from Ebenezer Rice and (who knows now), Ruth Eveleth or Henrietta unknown, through youngest son Joel Rice. All of the children born to Ebenezer Rice and 'wife' say in the 1850 White/IL census that they were born in VT between the years 1792-1799. Need a birth record stating the mother of Joel Rice. Anyone have a clue?

Thank you, Donna Crosby
