A few years ago (actually, it was 5) we had correspondence about your g.g.g.g.grandmother Eliza Ann Caroline Brewer, wife of Philemon Hodges. You will recall that I had listed Eliza Ann Caroline as a daughter of Matthew Brewer, but without good evidence. Then AJ Stewart discovered in a book by Nell Jenkins the following probate record:

Page 206 30 December 1840
Estate of Philemon Hodges, deceased
Eliza A. Hodges relict and George W. Brewer, her brother, applied as administrators of her deceased husband's estate and granted. They made bond for $25,000 with George W. Harper, Roderick Moore, Joseph Patton and Samuel H. Curry appraisers.

Letters issued to Eliza A. Oliver, formerly Hodges and George W. Brewer revoked.

This would seem to prove that Eliza Ann Caroline Brewer was sister of George W. Brewer and since the Matthew Brewer will specifically mentions his son George Brewer, it is likely that both were children of Matthew Brewer.

Do you have any more information on this family?
