In response to your questions the pieces may fit in your situation, but according to deeds I have come across, there is no way that this William and Ann Cato can be this Johns father because I've found no evidence that this William had a son named John like the one plugged in on your response to Carolyn Baker. This William was born 1805/06 with children William, James, and the three daughters. This information comes from both ,Bens;,"The Long Brewer Line" and also whoever composed, "The House of Brewer". And, yes the ?? for Ann is because in the deeds she is assumed to be a Cato because this Ann and Henry Cato is exe. of estate or whatever. Now, from all the papers I have and considering that this William is the connection, then he would more likly be a granfrather to this John instead of a Father henceforth like you said the 100 yr. difference between William and Joseph. Now, concerning John and Phebe, i'm haveing somewhat of a time trying to justify her. Through research I've found out that Phebe/Pheobe is a nickname for Philipina. Unless there is another paper that I don't know about, the only indication is as follows; PP/301-302 William Baremore by virtue of this buill of sale into the actual possession of Grace Terrell, all my property, first negro woman Lucy and her child Sam, cattle. later appears Grace Ferrel///25 BOV 1809. William Naremore Wit: john Brewer, Phebe Brewer (+)> Proved 6 July 1808.
So, all this tells me is that this Phebe Brewer is a wittness next to another wittness John Brewer. So, even if this is the correct John, this Phebe could have been and an Aunt, unmarried sister, female Brewer cousin or such. Too, from the researchers on this that I've inquired with, our Johns' Phebe is assumed and no record or ducument other than the afore-mentioned has her name on it. If there is one, I'd love to see it.
Yes, Emberson is one of Josephs sons and more than likely named after his Uncle?? All I have of Johns listings so far is Zadock, Joseph, Samuel L. and Jesse, but definately not to exclude your Emberson!
Now, concerning our johns paternal fathers and the comment about it being impossible that John and Tempy to have sons before 1810. First of all, please understand that wheather or not this is our John, his line leads to the very same place as William and Susannah Cato Brewer because this William is Tempys' Johns ancester Oliver.....Tempys Johns father is William Brewer married to Phannah Resdin and Williams father is Oliver Brewer Married to Rebecca Ann Smith and this Oliver and Ann Catos hunband William are brothers and both sons of George Brewer and Sarah lanier.
This John and Tempy is what I have until proven otherwise and like you, I am definitly open to proofs!
It is not imposible for John and Tempy to have had sons before 1810 because the older son Zadock is born 1797 granting John and Tempy to still be old enough to to have children! Any corrections or suggetions would be appreciated.
