Thomas BREWER - Scot POW 1651 to Boston...
I am searching for info on Thomas BREWER who came to Boston as a Prisoner of War on board the ship John and Sarah, on May 13, 1652.
Thomas was captured at the Battle of Worcester in Scotland in Sept. of 1651 by Oliver Cromwell's men and take to Gravesend, Kent, England apparently where he boarded the ship and set sail for America.
Did this Thomas Brewer live?Did he marry and have children here? If so what were their names etc.
My own family comes from yet another Scot POW from the Battle of Dunbar in Sept. 1650 and he was sent to Lynn, MA on the ship UNITY.He was indentured to the Saugus Ironworks in Lynn, MA for 7 years.
In Oct. of 1693 he was still living and stated his age as 74 years old.
My 3rd grt. grandfather married as his 1st wife a Sarah BREWER in Ipswich, Essex Co., MA.
Because of the terrible twists and turns within the Brewer lineage lines, and because I have not been able to, with any certainty, pin down her exact lineage, I am now exploring the possibility that perhaps her Brewer line ~might~ be from this Thomas BREWER of Scotland.
I have noted throughout my own research that these Scot POW families stuck together almost exclusively. There were some Scots who married into English families and others but most married other Scots.
If anyone has further info on this Thomas Brewer of Scotland, I would be Most greatful for any help on this line.
Thank You.
