ANNOUCEMENT: NEW BREWER BOOK
ANNOUNCEMENT:FREE NEW ELECTRONIC BOOK
"Brewer Families of Southeast America" by Foy E. Varner, Jr.
This is a 645-page review and correlation of the major Brewer literature and includes much data from works that are no longer published. It covers eight works, including Marvin Broyhill's notes, Ben Brewer's book, Denton Brewer's book, Bowman and Congleton's booklet, and four more, plus information from other sources, e.g. James H. Brewer's newsletter.
Be forewarned that this is not a simple directory of pedigrees and descendants. It is a page-by-page discussion and correlation of the existing literature. Its target is the serious researcher, and its goal is to clarify discrepancies, separate fact from fantasy, possibly connect some folks, and stimulate further research. It is intended to be read from cover-to-cover, rather than as a cook-book reference to look up various individuals, and is intended as a supplement to and complement of the other works, rather than as a replacement.
It is written as a Microsoft Word Document file that is available from me free as an email attachment. It should be readable by Word 97 and later versions and by later versions of WordPerfect. As a zip file, it is roughly one megabyte in size.Unzipped, it is about three megs in size.If you are unable to receive a file in that manner, let me know, and we will find a way to get you a copy.It is not currently available in hard copy, but you can print your own hard copy if you choose.
To receive the book, simply send a request directly to me at my email address, not to the Brewer forum.
Foy
