Dana,
It's great to hear from you..I think I may have misstated something in my previous message so I'll attempt to give you my lineage.
First of all, that book says that Mary's husband was Joseph Brewer but you stated that it was John so I'll use that name for reference.
John Brewer and Mary Frazier
Samuel " Black Sam" Brewer
James Richard ( Jim ) Brewer
Ellis Clement Brewer
Billy Brewer ( My Dad )
As you can see,Jim Brewer was my great grandfather instead of gg.My grandfather was born when Jim was 39 years old and my father was born when Papa Dock ( Ellis ) was 37 so my side of the line stretches out a bit. It seems almost impossible that my greatgrandfather was born in 1869 while I'm only 37.
My grandfather Ellis spoke often about his uncle Jerry . He loved to tell the story about Uncle Jerry swimming the Tennessee River with a chunk on his back during the " War of Southern Independence" (as we like to call it around here). That swim, by the way, was in Chattanooga which is about 15 minutes from my home. Ellis died in 1997 at the age of 89.
Talk to ya later,
Clark from GA
