Hi! Dean -
What I'm doing right now is going through Ancestry.com and pulling out the tax list and lottery lists from GA. That's all they have in one of the database search engines. I'm going hunting for more after I get through with this.
The book doesn't have the plats but the Amite County book by Casey does have the plats and I've copied those. They are not very good copies. He took the actual maps and xeroxed them - or somebody did - and bound them up in Vol.IV. I'll try to email some to you and see if we come up with the same things. I enlarged these maps at the library at the xerox machine and then brought them home and scanned them.
Ellender, I believe was born around 1790. This is based on the fact that she was married to James Graham on 2-14-1810 in Amite Co., MS. Also, her parents marriage is estimated at 1790 by others. If George and Hannah migrated in 1791 to Wilkes county, then Ellender could have been born either place. Another thing that "talks" to me is the fact that George and Hannah's daughter, Olivia married Thomas B. Taylor and he was born in Wilkes Co., GA. And since your "herding" theory is also what I use, then I think I'm pretty close thinking they immigrated to Wilkes County, even though I recognize the immensity of the county. So, if we can narrow down the actual place with your software, I think we will have something. The tax lists George Brewer, Wilkes Co., Pruet Dist., 1791. Also in 1791, Wilkes Co., Ragan District are Alexander and Henry Thompson. (I don't know the relationship here to our Hannah Thompson) Also, Zachariah Thompson went to Wilkes Co., Gresham District in 1791. I don't know his relationship either. This George was the only George Brewer, of only two listed, that resided in Wilkes County. The other George Brewer was in Greene Co., Cain Dist. in 1789. And these are the only 2 George Brewers listed on the tax lists from 1789-99.
I haven't looked at the Taylor's yet on that tax list. I'll let you know. Another family name is Bankston and there were none in Wilkes Co. during that time frame. Thomas Bankston was in Greene, Houghton Dist. in 1789.I think the family names that I'm most interested in that traveled with the BREWERS to GA and later ended up in MS Territory are: BANKSTON, TAYLOR AND THOMPSON. There was also a LANIER down in MS Terr. but I don't know his relationship except that the Brewers and Laniers go hand in hand.
Catch you later.
