Progress. Some of our bunch has been applying the same shipwreck story to OUR Lewis Brewer (1760-1839) of Grayson County, Virginia. Claimed his mother's name was "Mary Elizabeth", and that they were shipwrecked off Cape Hatteras, and that Mary Elizabeth later married their "sponsor" Samuel Russell, in Burke County, NC in 1774.Of course nothing has been found to substantiate this rubbish - no Samuel Russell, no reference to a Lewis Brewer in Burke Co, NC. Even the DAR now refuses to allow anyone into their ranks using the supposed Revolutionary War records of Lewis Brewer of Grayson County, Virginia. So they know something isn't kosher there. Plus there's the use of the name "Lanier" Brewer as a son of our Lewis Brewer, who was born I think about 1806 or so.
Is the Lewis Brewer who is mentioned in James Brewer's will in Brunswick County, Virginia the SAME Lewis who married the Wiggins girl, or has his whereabouts not been determined? What is the date on James Brewer's will in Brunswick County?

Thanks,

Will
