Now, who was the Lewis Brewer you mention who was in Tennessee?
The fact that this name is used amongst Ambrose Brewer's descendants in strong evidence for the suspicion that he was a brother to my Lewis Brewer of Grayson County, Virginia (1760-1839). I had Ambrose Brewer's wife as a Louisa, Lucinda (or some similar to that) Russell, and William Holland's wife as Rebecca Russell. These Russell women are probably sisters. William Holland is the father of John "Hollon" who married Charity Brewer and settled in what is now Breathitt County, KY.
William Holland was the son of George Holland and his wife Mary of Grayson County, Virginia. My Lewis Brewer married Agatha Holland, William Holland's sister.
I am inclined to therefore believe that Ambrose and Lewis Brewer of Grayson County are indeed brothers.
Ambrose Brewer was in Randolph County, NC I believe around 1790? There is also an Ambrose Brewer will circa 1860 in Chatham County, NC records. Perhaps Ambrose had his will sent back to NC to be filed? Or this is possibly another Ambrose Brewer? We aren't yet sure until we obtain a copy of the will.
Lewis Brewer did have a son named "Lanier", though this doesn't necessarily mean that Lanier was his father, but does indicate he was most certainly a descendant of George Brewer and Sarah Lanier of Brunswick County, Virginia. Now, since George Holland lived and died in Grayson County, VA, it is entirely possible that Ambrose Brewer spent some time in that area as well - (how else are we to suppose that Charity Brewer met William Holland's son, John "Hollon"?).
I am inclined to believe that Charity Brewer is probably a daughter of Ambrose Brewer, owing to the fact that she and John named a son "Ambrose Hollon". Would like to hear your thoughts on this as well. Thanks.
