Has his son George b. ca 1845 been traced? I am searching for my Brewer ancestor who may have been from Gwinnett County, GA. He is George W. Brewer, born August 1844 in GA and died about 1889 in Birmingham, AL. Brewer mustered in as a Private on 23 Sep 1861 in Gwinnett County, GA. He was captured at Gettysburg 3 Jul 1863 and paroled at Pt. Lookout 18 Feb 1866. Three other Brewer men listed in same regiment possibly relatives:
Brewer, John B. private September 23, 1861 . Killed at Seven Pines, Va. May 31,1862 .
Brewer, Joseph A. private January 25,1864 . Captured at Petersburg, Va. April 2,1865 . Released at Point Lookout, Md. June 24,1866.
Brewer, William H.- private September 24, 1861 . Deserted or captured on picket line near Petersburg, Va. October 11, 1864 . Union records show he was "Captured October 11, 1864 , and to go to Indianapolis, Ind."
My Brewer seemed to have some connection to the Hinton and Thompson families of Tuscaloosa County, AL as he is shown on the 1860 census in Tuscaloosa County, AL, age 16, in the household of William T. HInton and wife. It shows he was born in GA. He returned to AL after the war and lived all of his remaining life in Birmingham. He had a son named Marion Moses Brewer and a dau. named Mary Margaret Brewer and at least two other children who were only listed on census records with their first initials.
Any leads or help on this Brewer family you could give me would be great!
