This may be a long shot, but perhaps it'll help ...

Russell BREWER, b. 28 Jan 1785, NC, d. 01 Sep 1858, Warren Co., TN; Nancy TOLLIVER (Taliaferro?), b. 09 Feb 1785, NC, d. 27 Feb 1869, Warren Co., TN....

They had 13 children, but your "H" may be Henry BREWER, b. 16 May 1807, Warren Co., TN, d. 25 Aug 1877, Warren Co., TN; wife Matilda ----, b. 2 Jan 1811, d. 11 Feb 1889.

I really don't know about Henry's family because I'm not from his line and never go too far into collateral stuff ... I'm from his sister Catharine.

As far as place of birth on census records, that's like anything else in them ... don't bet your life on the pinpoint accuracy of the data.... I've found many individuals who are noted as being born in 2 and sometimes even 3 different states according to census returns 1850-1900 ... take ages and sometimes even places of birth in census records with a bit of humor and imagination ....
