Ok do what you want, with just a little bit of my experience. I first started doing research in 1980 and could get no futher than 1803 to John Stanley. I found a record of a James standley who married sally ezell. I found all of Johns brothers and Sisters , or thought i did. I found the will of Benjamin Ezell in which he named all of his grandchildren , everyone one was as I had found. I sent it to a genealogist that teaches in brigham young u. She sent back the message that I had no proof that this john mentioned in the will was my John. Everything pointed to this being my John ,but I had no document to proove, we even had children named ezell for a middle name but no document. If i had went by what you are suggesting I would still be at 1803. Instead I have the entire Ezell line back to 1400 and the stanley line back to 1099 . It makes it a little difficult to hear mr broyhill say that he has serched every document in the virgina records,so because he has not found it ,therefor it is not true. Try looking at the land records and see who lives where. stan
