I'm not positive, but I think that after looking at the Hickman/Hawkins Bible, that I may have finally found my grgrgrandmother,
Nancy Estill's maiden name.
The Bible lists the birth of Nancy Hawkins as 11 Nov. 1820
and the Death of Nancy Estill as 18 Sept 1856
My gr gr grandparents are listed in the 1850 Marion Co., Al Census, King Estill (actually David King Estill) age 35 b. Al. his wife Nancy age 30 b. Ms. and the following children, Wallace age 11 b. Al, Isaac (my gr grandfather) age 10 (10 mar 1841) b. Al, Jefferson age 8 b. Al, Hawkins age 5 b. Al,
Sarah E. age 2 b. Al, Mary E. age 1/12 b. Al.
King and Nancy had one more child together, Elias b. 1854.
I had been told that my Nancy Estill had died before the birth of David K. b. 29 Sept 1857, and Theodosia b. 12 Sept 1859, that they were the children of King Estill and his second wife Elizabeth who is listed with him in the 1860 Marion Co., Al Census.I know that the Wallace and Isaac are Estill names from way back in the 1700's, and Elias was King's brother's name.I have found Mary and Sarah's too, but Hawkins is nowhere in the Estill names until King married Nancy. I know you are researching the Brewer name, but I just couldn't pass this discussion up.Thanks so much for your time, I certainly hope that I am able to finally find Nancy's maiden name and her parentage.
