Howell/Ambrose Brewer - NC - 1700-1800s

I'm looking for the parents of my gg-grandfather, Howell Brewer Martindale, b. about 1814 in Moore Co., NC. A check of census records reveals that both the Brewers and the Martindales were in this area from the 1700s. I understand that sons were often named for the mother's fathers. Does anyone know if a daughter of either Howell or Ambrose Brewer married a Martindale.

Howell Brewer Martindale married Mary Elizabeth Eaton in 1838 in Washington Co., MO. Their children were William C. (b abt 1840), Lucinda J. (b abt 1842), Ambrose B. (b 1844), Permelia A. (b abt 1846), Sarah V. (b abt 1849), Howell Brewer (b 1852), Missouri E. (b abt 1853), James J. (b abt 1856), and Randolph B. (b abt 1859). Howell and family were in Sevier Co., AR, in 1860. He apparently died between 1860 to 1870, as Mary E. Martindale is on the 1870 Washington Co., MO, census as a widow.

Any help would be appreciated.
