Just wondering if you've come across John Wesley Leeka yet in your research. I believe he was Rachel's brother if I remember right?
Also, do you know of any Brewer/Leeka connections to the Sharp family in Council Grove, Morris County Kansas? or any connections just to Council Grove/Morris County?
William Leeka of Fremont County Iowa ( who was related to your Rachel)was supposed to have owned 1400 acres of land in Kansas. The Indian orphan I'm researching may have come from the Kaw tribe in Morris County and we believe she was connected to the Leeka family somehow. I'm wondering if William may have bought some of the Kaw Land that was sold in Morris County.
Isaac Sharp was a prominent attorney in Council Grove who handled some affairs of the settlers there regarding Kaw land sales. We know the Leeka's in Fremont County are related to the Sharps in Nodaway County where our orphan was and we're trying to find out if Isaac Sharp was related too.
I was thinking that since your Rachel was related to the Leeka's in Fremont County, that maybe she and her husband Thomas Brewer might also have bought Kaw land. It's a long shot of course but with an orphan you just about have to check every little thing.
