This is what I know about Bill Brewer who would have been my g grandfather. He married Jane Howe Brewer(whose father was James Howe and he lived in Widdecomb-in-the-moor) Bill & Jane were married at a Baptist Church at a place called Cudleigh.Bill Brewer is famous for being one of the guys who rode to Widdecombe Fair on an old grey mare - folk song. Bill Brewer was a contracotr who helped to cut oak wood for the London bridge. They lived on a farn and Bill Brewer was a lay preacher and used to go out and preach on Sundays in a tent. The place they lived is suppose to be a place that is a historical site now called the Smith Woods. I know that my grandmother had at least 2 brothers they were Tom & Jim and I'm sure they were other children. Jim Brewer had a son called Lewis Brewer who is suppose to live in California right now - it is interesting that he has the same name as your ancestor. Prehaps we are related but this is all the info I have - Can you relate to any of this?
