C.E. Brewer POLLOCK - Services for the Rev. C.E. "Buck" Brewer will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Lowell Reichardt and the Rev. Huey Tarpley officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros., Pineville. Brewer, 87, of Pollock died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Rapides Regional Medical Center. He pastored numerous churches in Grant Parish including Friendship, Big Creek, Fairfield and Selma Baptist Churches, and was called as interim to many other churches. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pollock and a troop leader with Boy Scouts of America earning the Silver Beaver Award. He was a Mason and a member of Anchor Lodge #261 F&AM of Pollock. He was a graduate of Pollock High School and Normal in Natchitoches. He was a teacher at Pollock High School for over 33 years and one year at Jena High School, teaching chemistry. He also coached baseball, basketball and track. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Selvidge Brewer of Pollock; one son, James Cecil Brewer of Pollock; one sister, Mary Lee Miller of Pineville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 4-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday in the church.
