Monroe. Who was the wife of Joel Brewer and when was Joel born? Evidently you have the age of Nicy Brewer from the 1850 census of Wilkinson Co. to determine her age, I am still very puzzled about the fact that she continues to use the surname Brewer, even when she is in her 50's. Sound more like a widow that never remarried to me. Why would she have married Hyman Mercer, divorce him, and then her sister marry him, then Nicy go back to using her (maiden name? ) Then for her to sell her (ex-husband who is now the husband of her sister?) land in 1858, just sounds like a soap opera to me. Is there proof that she was ever married to Hyman Mercer?
Here I am trying to figure out this family of Joel when I still do not know who the parents of my Elizabeth Brewer was, and she would have been about the same age as Nicy. 1808. married Irvin Lambert 1825. I think that Daniel Brewer was her brother (he was about close to her age) and Maddox says that Daniel was a son of Simon and Elizabeth Brewer. Do you know if they are related to the Joel Brewer family? Daniel was burried at Brooks farm Cemetery. Think we could get these parts fit into the Brewer puzzle while we are at it? Any more help out there? Thanks.
