I've run into the Brewer and Bidwell names in researching the history
of Tyringham, MA (which is about 10 miles NE of Sheffield). Captain
John Brewer (born in Watertown, MA) was one of the earliest settlers,
in 1739. Reverend Adonijah Bidwell was the first minister, and the
Bidwell House, built c. 1750, is a current tourist attraction.

I don't have any information on these families myself, but it is a
direction you might look. (There is a query about one screen down from
yours on this Brewer page asking about descendents of a John Brewer
of Tyringham.)
