I don't believe any of the Brewer family that I'm related to came from the Desoto County area. Most of mine were around the Caledonia, MS and Vernon, AL area. I checked in my Genealogy information, just in case, and didn't see anyone around that area or with the name Velma. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck in your research.
