Brewers of Northern Maine and Canada

I am presently trying to rebuild my family tree. My parents are deceased and this has complicated my search as I have been away from home for over 21 years.

My father was James Kenneth Brewer Jr. He was born in Presque Isle, Maine in Dec of 1932 the son of James Kenneth Brewer Sr. and Elizabeth S. Brewer (nicknamed Susie). My father died in July of 1979. My mother was Joan E. Brewer (Charrette) and she died in April of 1994. I lived in Presque Isle at my parents home until I entered college. In 1978 I left Maine and have not returned other than for family visits.

My grandfather, James K. Brewer Sr. was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick sometime in the early 1900s. He immigrated to Presque Isle Maine sometime around 1928 I believe. He lived there until his death in 1978. He had several brothers and some sisters as well I think. As I recall some of his brother's names were Harold, Lloyd, Alvin?(killed in WWI), and Eldon. Harold moved to California back in the 60s and is now deceased. Eldon ran the Buick dealership in Presque Isle and died in the early 60s I believe. There were more brothers I think. I only recall one sister of my grandfather and I think her name was Elsie. She lived in St. Stephen New Brunswick.

The only cousin of my dad I can recall was David. Obviously the son of one of my grandfather's siblings. David is probably in his mid to late sixties now and the last I knew he was living in Moncton, NB. He had a son and two girls last I knew. The son's name was Christopher. I believe his wife's name was Elsie.

As the family lore goes (passed down by my uncle Harold) our branch of the Brewer family had immigrated to Canada from England. I don't know when though.

I would greatly appreciate any information that anyone might have to help me in my quest.

Thank you.

Richard J. Brewer
