Thought perhaps this might help someone:
James Brewer, born in SC in 1792, first appeared in GA records in Tattnall County. There, on Oct 2, 1815, he witnessed the land grant papers of his brother, Robert. James was granted his own 289 acres on Cedar Creek (adjoining Robert's land) on Feb 7, 1816.
James was married abt 1818 to Delilah (maiden name unknown), who was also born in SC, in 1800. The couple settled in Liberty County, and remained there for the rest of their lives. James was one of the first settlers of Hinesville, when it was laid out as the new county site in 1837, and in April of that year, in the auctioning off of the new town lots, he purchased lots number 5,6,and 7. Over the years of 1822-1845, James was granted a total of 2,050 acres of headright land, and when he died in late 1853, he left a large farm in Liberty County, as well as land holdings in McIntosh and Appling Counties in GA, and in Alachua County in Florida.
Mrs. Delilah Brewer survived her husband for several years, and died sometime after 1870. The couple's gravesites are not known.
William - 1818, m.Catherine Parker,ca1840.
