Well, Cousin!!!
Wish I could tell you I have the answer to the mystery of James and Delilah's native county, but I, too, have been searching for a good number of years, without success. The only hopeful track I ever managed to find was the James Brewer who began to appear in the records of Effingham County in the 1780's and 90's. I believe that the Burroughs Brewer who first appears in Liberty County in 1814, and the Robert Brewer who appears in Tattnall County ( with James) in Oct. 1815, were the elder brothers of our James.
While Robert remained in Liberty, with James, Burroughs (sometimes spelled Burrows)had moved his family to Alachua County Florida by 1840, he was back in GA, in Camden County, where he apparently died between 1850-1860. His son, James, born 1816, remained in Florida...the county lines changing over the years, cut him into Columbia County, and finally, into Hamilton County. This James had a son named Robert (1836), Burroughs (1839), and James (1841).
Hope this helps you a little; if you want more, I can dig out my notes on very short notice!!
